The government today announced further measures to stimulate growth in apprenticeship starts by permitting levy-paying firms to transfer up to 25% of their 'pot' to other firms from April 2019. Currently firms can only transfer up to 10% to other firms (such as those in their supply chain) or an Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA).
It was also announced that further funds will be provided to accelerate the development of new apprenticeship Standards which will now be fully complete - with the scrapping of all Frameworks - by August 2020.
Mixed reviewsfrom the sector and employers. We welcome all increases in flexibility and increased investment but in our view this is another baby step in the right direction rather than the stride the sector very much needs.
