See your star Apprentice shine at the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards

October 4, 2017

As of today (5th October), the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2018 are open for entries and nominations, with the winners to be announced on 1st March 2018 at a special Awards Evening at Blenheim Palace.

We're very proud that the Apprenticeship & Training Company is sponsoring the Special Recognition Award, which will be given to an Apprentice who has overcome barriers to work or learning to achieve within their Apprenticeship.

The Special Recognition Award ties in very neatly with our company values, as we recognise that ‘achievement’ is often relative to the individual and not always about qualifications. We administer a bursary scheme on behalf of Sanctuary Housing and regularly come into contact with young people who have significant issues that can challenge their progress, which makes their achievements all the more impressive.

If you know a gem of an Apprentice who deserves to shine, why not nominate them? It’s a fantastic way to show them that they're appreciated and it’s really easy to do, just download and complete a nomination form and email it to awards@oxfordshireapprenticeships.co.uk.

Last year's Special Recognition Award winner certainly was a gem... Gemma Tuckey achieved both Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships in a challenging role in the Engagement Team at Oxfordshire County Council, whilst balancing her responsibilities as a young carer and a long commute to work. Winning the Award meant a lot to Gemma and she wants to encourage employers to nominate their Apprentices and give them the opportunity to feel great about everything they have achieved.

Gemma says: “Winning the award makes all the hard work that you put in worth it. Not only was I being recognised for my hard work in the office, but for balancing it with a tough lifestyle which so many people can go unrecognised for. I really encourage employers to enter their star Apprentices that they know are deserving of this Award and will feel positive about their life experiences!”

You have until midnight on 1st December to get your entries in, but why wait til then? Everything you need to know about the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards is available at www.oxfordshireapprenticeships.co.uk/awards.
